Baby figured out how to sit up today. I figured it was only a matter of time... which brings me to a confession...
Baby still sleeps on her pack n play bassinet insert. Okay, before you freak out, I think it's fine... probably. But, the weight limit is 15 lbs, you might say. You're right, but we thought it was 20, which is actually the weight limit on the changing table that came with it. It makes no sense to me, because there is no way we could safely use that thing with her as big and mobile as she is. And the bassinet looks fine! But still. I know our days are numbered, and I told hubby we are going to have to take it out by the weekend.
He wasn't too worried. We both thought we had time. So of course, tonight I awake to baby fussing. I wait to see if she's going to settle. I hear a rustle, then... silence. I look up to see her sitting there, staring at me, wobbling in her sleepy stupor.
I nudge hubby. "Look at her."
He grumbles over to peek across the room, then sits straight up. "Grab her."
And down came the insert. I anticipated disaster... her being so very far down, and us being unable to use the vibrating pad to soothe her... but it wasn't so bad, and we are all used to it now.* Though, there is something instinctively bothersome about a defenseless baby sleeping essentially on the floor. Luckily, we tend to keep the house free of tigers and other major predators.
*Correction: our backs are not pleased with the situation.
